Jin Shin Jyutsu ® is an ancient art of harmonizing the energy in the body.
This art was rediscovered in the early 1900's by Master Jiro Murai. After clearing himself from a severe illness, he dedicated the rest of his life to studying the connection between his remarkable recovery and the mudras he had used, then teaching the art and helping others.
In the late 1940s, Mary Burmeister, a first-generation Japanese-American born in Seatle, went to Japan to learn Japanese, not to study Jin Shin Jyutsu®.
She started teaching English to a young lady, and through a casual meeting, she met Jiro Murai at her student's home. During a conversation, he invited her to study with him so she could take a gift from Japan to America.
After 5 years of study, in the 1950's, Mary Burmeister, brought Jin Shin Jyutsu® to the States. She kept studying with Master Jiro Murai by correspondence. Mary began teaching in the 1960's, and thousands of students attended her seminars over the years. Before retiring from the teaching role, Mary chose several of her students to continue on as instructors of the art of Jin Shin Jyutsu®.
